Simlipal National Park is a vast national park, biosphere reserve, and tiger reserve located in the Mayurbhanj district of Northern Odisha, India. Spanning over 2,750 square kilometers, it is globally renowned for being the only habitat in the world with a wild population of rare melanistic (black) tigers. The sanctuary derives its name from the abundance of “Semul” or red silk cotton trees that burst into brilliant red blooms across its dense Sal forests
