Similipal Tiger Reserve, spread across 2,750 sq. km in Odisha, is a National Park, Wildlife Sanctuary, Biosphere Reserve, and part of the Mayurbhanj Elephant Reserve. Known for its dense Sal forests, waterfalls, orchids, and rich biodiversity, it is home to tigers, elephants, deer, bison, crocodiles, hornbills, and many other species. Similipal is especially famous for its rare melanistic tigers.
Major attractions include Barehipani and Joranda waterfalls, Devkund, Gurguria, Sitakund, Lulung, Ramtirtha, Khiching, and Bhimkund. Visitors can enjoy nature camps, watchtowers, trekking, wildlife viewing, and scenic forest landscapes. The nearest railway station is Baripada, while Bhubaneswar, Jamshedpur, and Kolkata provide convenient air and road access.
